Fundraiser

To help support the Libertine Asylum's November event entitled "Children of the Revolution", I am offering a special discount on my services.

Any standard portraiture shoot, on location or in studio for two hours. Just $50. This is a $140 value. I only have five slots open, and I will be updating this post as they are taken. Your purchase of this time will not only get you beautiful pictures, but also help support alternative fashion in Minnesota!

Note that even if you choose studio, there are many great locations immediately around the studio itself where we can shoot so that you have a variety of both studio and location photos! Whatever your idea may be, I look forward to making it a reality with you!

I can be contacted via email (drayke@photosynthetique.com), phone (612-703-5125), or via Facebook message (Photosynthetique on Facebook.).

Update 10.04.09: Only one slot left! Now's the time to email, Facebook message or call if you're interested!

All slots taken! See new post for information!

I love hanging out with the MN Rufflebutts! They're all so damn cute, fun and great models. All of you! I wish more would have made it out yesterday to the Photosynthetique studio because it was a blast. :D

The full set is, as always, here.

Meet Jesse "Perfect Robb" and Katie, my newest clients. I've known Robb (I've known him as "Perfect Robb" since high school, so it's hard to think of him using his real first name) for a long time, and I met Katie on the set of "Record of Abraxas", the short film by BokBok Productions. These two were meant for each other, Robb being a movie producer, her being an actress and they're extremely cute together. It's easy to see the chemistry and they were really fun to hang out with while shooting their engagement photos. I'm very flattered that they chose me as their photographer, because I know that they have several photographer friends whom they could have easily taken over me. Thank you, you two! :)

I've posted a few from that session here, if you'd like to take a look. Otherwise, here's a couple of my favourites.

Dorky first photo from studio

Hey, I had to do something in there after getting that bloody backdrop set up! Also, getting a heavy seamless paper backdrop installed is more work than I thought it would be.

I've finished the photos from Briana and Corey's wedding. What a wonderful time! I hope that if they are reading this as I post it, having just returned from their honeymoon today, that they had an absolutely beautiful time together and that they love the photos I've taken for them. :D

I'm sharing with you a few of my favourites just because I can. If you want to check out the selected images from their wedding, you can go here. I've chosen not to post the entire set as it's kind of fun for the couple to find more great photos on their disc when they get it!

Because what would an enlightened child of the 21st Century be doing otherwise?

(Seriously, though, expect this in a few years. I'll be damned if any child of mine isn't bitten by the writing bug. Although I've allowed my own talent to flounder in recent years, I will not allow hers to do the same.)

Here's the bonus sky photo, because I love clouds and my 1000 word pictures have taken the place of my latent writing talents.

Megan, Kyri and Molly really big, because why the fuck not? Megan's last night in public here in Minneapolis before moving to Seattle, WA. We're all going to miss her. Minnesota has truly lost one of the most talented designers, and although she will continue to grace us with her talent, the Asylum is truly lessened for having lost one of our core members in a local capacity. We miss you already, Megan!

Tonight also featured a lot of females making out and grabbing each other's boobs, so if you're into that kind of thing, you missed out!

See you next week at the official monthly Chamber meetup!

What a great time! "Le Cirque Libertine" had it all! Balloon experts! Cotton candy! Photo booths! Glass eaters! Belly dancers! Burlesque dancers! Fire! Awesome music both live and pre-recorded! If you weren't there, you need only ask yourself "Why do I hate fun so much?"

I'm a very visual person (quite obviously), but I can tell you that the pictures don't do it justice! It's like many stories, it's just better if you were there. That didn't stop me from trying to capture it anyway! This post has a lot of exclamation points!

If you missed out on "Le Cirque Libertine", be sure not to miss some of the other awesome events coming up, like "Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits" at MCAD on September 25, or "Children of the Revolution" on November 13! Watch this space for details.

Whole set here, as always.

Briana and Corey, I love you both. I wish you all the happiness in the world together. Thank you for letting me be a big part of such a wonderfully special day.

Couple more here. Many, many more to follow.

...so to have two in the same year is pretty fucking awesome. Granted, this most recent one to Duluth was only a day and a half, but it was so worth it! I had such a great time and couldn't have asked for a better companion with whom to experience it all. I had no idea that Duluth was so amazingly gorgeous. We saw so many great things and did nearly all of it for little or no cost. I seriously want to do it again something in the fall, because I bet it's just beautiful there when the leaves change. Also, seriously we are the best accidental planners ever (well, really, Michelle is) because we happened to be sitting on a foggy pier on Lake Superior during one of the most active meteor showers of the current decade. As a geeky individual who used to dream of being an astrophysicist, could I have asked for such serendipity?

Note in the last photo in this post that this was my longest exposure to date, nearly 10 minutes. Those lines in the sky are star trails because the exposure was so long that you can actually see the Earth's rotation.

Whole set here.

For years now getting a decent picture of lightning has eluded me, but I finally got an acceptable one tonight! It's not great, but I'm just happy to have finally captured one.

I had a great time hanging out with Brandon and Tanya last weekend, they're both pretty inexperienced models but they love to play dress up and that's really all that I need. :)

Apparently Brandon forgot several of the outfits that he was thinking of shooting so be on the lookout for more photos with these two sometime in the coming months!
